Who we are

CKTechCheck (cktechcheck.com) is a tech review and maker tutorial site run by CK Multimedia Group LLC in the United States. When this policy says "we," that's who it means. If anything here is unclear, email ckmultimediagroup@gmail.com or use the contact form.

What we collect

What you give us

If you use the contact form, we receive your name, your email address, and whatever you write. We use it to reply to you and for nothing else. The form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA to screen out spam (details in the cookies section).

If you donate, the payment happens on the payment provider's own site (PayPal or Square). We never see or store your card details; we only receive what those providers share with a merchant, such as a receipt.

What's collected automatically

Our hosting provider (WP Engine) and our CDN and security layer (Cloudflare) keep standard server and security logs: IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. Those logs exist to run and protect the site, and they rotate out on the providers' normal schedules. Readership analytics is different: it runs only if you turn it on, and the next section explains exactly how.

Cookies and tracking

In short: tracking on this site runs only with your consent. One small entry in your browser is always present, the one that remembers your choice. Everything else stays off until you turn it on.

Your consent choice

On your first visit, a banner offers three equal choices: Accept, Decline, and Preferences. The only optional category on this site is analytics. Your choice is saved in your browser's localStorage under the key cktc_consent_v1, together with a timestamp. It never leaves your browser and we keep no record of it on any server. We ask again after 12 months.

You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie preferences link in the footer. Withdrawing consent deletes the analytics cookies immediately and stops analytics from loading again.

Strictly necessary storage (always on)

• cktc_consent_v1 (localStorage): remembers your cookie choice so we don't have to ask twice. Identifies no one, goes no further than this site.
• elementor (localStorage): our page builder keeps a few local counters, such as pages viewed in a visit. This stays in your browser and isn't sent anywhere.
• Cloudflare security cookies (__cf_bm, cf_clearance): set briefly only when Cloudflare is actively protecting the site from bots or attacks.

Analytics, only with consent

The counting kind. If you turn analytics on, we load Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-6PHN25L8H3) through Google Tag Manager. It tells us which pages get read, how visitors arrive, roughly where in the world readers are, and what kinds of devices they use. We see aggregate numbers, not individual profiles, and GA4 is designed by Google not to log or store full IP addresses.

• _ga and _ga_6PHN25L8H3: Google Analytics cookies, kept for up to two years unless you withdraw consent (which deletes them right away) or clear your browser.

Google processes this data on our behalf and may do so on servers in the United States. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services. Besides declining or withdrawing here, you can also use Google's browser opt-out add-on.

No ad network, no ad cookies

We run no ad network on this site and set no advertising cookies. We removed Google AdSense in July 2026. If you visited before then, the site automatically clears the leftover ad cookies the old setup created (__gads, __gpi, __eoi, FCCDCF, FCNEC). The one exception is embedded video, covered in the next section.

YouTube videos and buttons

Most video embeds here are click-to-play: the page shows a thumbnail, and nothing loads from YouTube until you press play. Once you do, YouTube (a Google service) serves the player and may set its own cookies under its own policies. A few older posts still load YouTube's subscribe button or player assets when the page loads; we're phasing those out as posts get updated. Cookies set by YouTube live on Google's domains, so they can only be removed through your browser settings, not by us.

YouTube may also show its own ads before or during a video. Those ads are YouTube's, not ours. We do not sell, place, or profit from them, and they are the only advertising you will encounter here.

reCAPTCHA on the contact page

The contact form uses Google reCAPTCHA solely to tell humans from spam bots. It loads on the contact page and evaluates whether a submission looks automated. Google's privacy policy and terms of service apply to it.

Fonts and static files

Our web fonts are delivered by Google Fonts, and a few small static images (like emoji) come from WordPress.org's CDN. Serving any file shares your IP address with the server that sends it, the same as every request on the web. No cookies are involved.

Amazon affiliate links

Product links often go to Amazon through the Amazon Associates program. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. Clicking an affiliate link takes you to Amazon, where Amazon sets its own cookies to attribute the visit; nothing is set on this site. Some product images may load from Amazon's content network. How we use information

Four things, and that's the list: replying when you contact us, running and securing the site, understanding readership in aggregate (only when you've opted in), and meeting legal obligations. For visitors covered by the GDPR or UK GDPR, the legal bases are your consent (analytics), our legitimate interests (security and operations), and taking the steps you ask of us (answering your message).

Sharing

We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it for advertising. The only parties that handle any data are the service providers named in this policy (WP Engine, Cloudflare, Google, our email provider, and the donation processors), each doing a job for us under their own contractual and legal duties, plus authorities in the rare case the law genuinely requires it.

How long we keep things

Contact messages: as long as the conversation needs, plus a reasonable period for records. Analytics: per our Google Analytics retention settings, after which only aggregate reporting remains. Server and security logs: the providers' standard short windows.

Security

The site runs on HTTPS everywhere with HSTS enabled, on managed infrastructure from WP Engine and Cloudflare. Our biggest safeguard is simpler: we barely collect anything. No online service can promise perfect security, but there's very little here to lose.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can change your cookie choice with the footer's Cookie preferences link, and you can ask us what we hold about you (usually just contact-form emails), ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to ckmultimediagroup@gmail.com. We'll verify requests using the email address you contact us from and respond within the timeframe the law requires, typically 30 to 45 days.

US state privacy rights

If you live in California or another state with a privacy law, you have rights to access, correct, and delete your personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. Because we don't sell or share personal information, there's no sale or targeted-advertising opt-out to exercise. For the same reason, Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals are honored by default: nothing optional runs unless you opt in.

Visitors in the EEA or UK

You additionally have the rights to restrict or object to processing and to data portability, plus the right to withdraw consent at any time (the footer link does exactly that). You can also complain to your local supervisory authority.

Children

This site isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Visiting from outside the US

The site is operated from the United States, and information described in this policy is processed there. By using the site, you understand your requests are handled in the US under this policy.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If a change is material, we'll say so plainly on this page. The policy always describes what the site actually does, and we verify that with automated checks against the live site.
